Delicious Library

Delicious Library is coming in 10 days. This looks like an awesome application to keep track of your DVDs, books, music and video games. The interface looks incredibly simple and I just found another reason to get an iSight camera—you can use it as a barcode reader and save yourself some typing.

Blogger is really starting to suck.

I really have to move this site over to Movable Type for publishing this blog. Blogger has served me well over the last few years but lately I’ve been fed up with it being down so much.

Quite often I’ll attempt to post something and can’t because Blogger times out during publishing. I have to log back in again and try to publish my entry again. This is happening at all times during the day. Frustrating.

COLLIDER

COLLIDER is a creative collective from Australia that has done some incredible film work. If you visit their site then click on FILM and take a look at the music video for SIA—Breathe Me. I also liked the short film We Have Decided Not To Die. Nice work.

Earth today

This page looks interesting. I don’t know how credible, scientific or accurate it is because it doesn’t provide any information about who created the page. Oh, it also came from my friend Andy. I guess things were a little slow this morning at work.

Vertigo at iTunes

U2’s latest single Vertigo is being used to sell iPods and help promote the iTunes Music Store. I can’t believe the band has made what is basically a couple of iPod videos to promote their new album. The music videos, or rather marketing videos will surely drive traffic to the iTunes Music Store.

I can’t imagine U2 doing a video for a Microsoft product or any other corporation. Hats off to Apple for getting them to promote the iPod and iTunes. U2’s next album is hotly anticipated. Apple performed a major coup by getting an exclusive video. And no, you can’t save the movie to your computer. It must be viewed through iTunes. Brilliant! Too bad I can’t purchase the single from iTunes Music Store—it’s not available to Canada yet. Why?

Starbuck$ Coffee

Back in August, a story appeared in the Seattle Post-Intelligencer titled, The Insider: Starbucks’ prices won’t be cheaper for much longer The last time Starbucks raised their prices was in August 2000 (increase of 7¢ a cup). Well, 4 years have gone by and the price just went up again by about 7¢.

Last night I was working late and decided to go the the Starbucks in the Beaches. I usually get a Grande size coffee (medium) and it used to cost $1.87 CDN. Last night it cost $1.98 CDN. Ouch!

I love my Starbucks coffee but won’t be buying very much of it by the cup. I prefer to buy their beans and grind them at home.

There is also a local coffee shop down the street from my office called The Savoury Grounds Coffee Co. which has great coffee. Its medium size coffee is a little smaller than a Grande and costs $1.45—a little easier to stomach.

JAK MEDIA has moved!

After being robbed twice, pleading my with my landlord to get out of my lease, a miracle occured. Last Friday I was officialy released from my office lease in Markham. On Saturday I moved out of my old office and into a new one in Toronto. Thanksgiving? You bet!

The new office is at 577 Kingston Road in the Upper Beaches. Instead of a 45 minute rush-hour commute, I’ll be at the office in 10 minutes. Downtown Toronto is 15-20 minutes away.

The new office is a lot smaller than the old one. I used to have 724 sq.ft. of space. I’ve down-sized to a mere 200 sq.ft. which is actually plenty of room. The difficult part is figuring out what to put into storage, what to sell, and what I should just give away.

I get my phones and DSL service tomorrow. Once the lines are put in I’ll make an official announcement and publish the new numbers.

Carada not Canada

The home theatre plans are rolling along. I just ordered an 84-inch projection screen from Carada. I don’t know how they got their name but I always want to say Canada when I see it.

I’ve done a lot of research around projection screens lately and Carada has some great reviews. AV Science Forum is an excellent resource if you want to know more about home theatre.

Once I set up the screen I’ll be reconfiguring the home theatre area—some of the larger IKEA furniture will be sold off or moved to make room for smaller, more efficient furniture. For example, where do you hide a DVD collection? You get a couple of BENNO CD towers from IKEA. They have a small footprint and each one holds 88 DVDs.

Next on my list is the projector. The Panasonic PT-AE700 is just starting to ship and is supposed to be better than the PT-AE500 in a number of ways. There is a new review of this projector at Projector Central. I just hope that I can order one. There is plenty of buzz around this model and a lot of people have been pre-ordering them. My worry is that they will be sold out of the first shipment.

RedFlagDeals.com

This is one of the most useful sites I’ve ever been to. If you’re in Canada and you’re looking for great online deals, then this is the place to find them. In-store deals? Of course! This website lists everything and is always up to date. Thanks to Tim Barnes for the link.

Grumpy Rex Reed

Movie critic Rex Reed is grumpy.

He loathes David O. Russell’s new film, I ♥ Huckabees. Here is the first line of his latest article for the New York Observer:

Kneeling at the trough of psycho-gibberish that has come to symbolize contemporary movies, a piece of crap called I ♥ Huckabees sinks to new depths of incoherent pretentiousness.

He also has a dislike for all the new Hollywood hacks—Charlie Kaufman, Spike Jonze, Wes Anderson.

I think Rex is probably confused, tired and probably needs to retire. Link via opus—a website tailor-made for bombippy with movie reviews, links to nicely designed sites, music reviews and more.
