After the Sunset (2005)

Oh man was this a bad movie. It had popcorn flick written all over it but it was stale, tasteless and just plain dumb. There were maybe a two funny moments in the entire film. The reviews were pretty mixed but this was a waste of two hours.

I watched some of the extras and the main featurette seemed to be as long as the movie! I was amazed at how much money they spent ($50 million) and how much of an idiot, director Brett Ratner really is. I’m glad he’s not directing Superman Returns (2006). Note to self, try to avoid any Brett Ratner films in the future.

Ratner has been picked to helm X-Men 3 after the original dirctor left siteing creative differences with the studio. From the decisions he’s made so far Ratner seems intent of killing the franchise.

But have you seen Before Sunrise?

Ratner left Superman Returns because of the difficulty in casting the lead. And now he’s doing X-Men 3? Thank goodness he didn’t get to do Batman. How do the studios pick these directors?

Ratner has directed countless music videos and the two Rush Hour movies. He’s even doing a Rush Hour 3! Just what audiences around the world need—another Chris Tucker movie with Jackie Chan.

I have seen Richard Linklater’s and last year’s Before Sunset, not to be confused with After the Sunset which is also a really bad name for a film.

Ah, but have you heard, Tucker doesn’t even want to do RH3 (he’s a recluse now), yet they are soldiering on regardless. I read they are just going to pick another black comic and stick him in the role and carry on like nothing is amiss.

I don’t know a whole lot about making movies but I do know that when you remove half the stars in your franchise it is time to give up the ghost. Speed 2 anyone?

We saw it in the theatre with Lisa’s brother and he loved it. I thought it was horrible and we argued about it. I was just thankful that Salma is so hot.

I saw it over at Dave and Wendy’s and we kept laughing every time Ratner showed Salma in a bathing suit. He would just insert shots of her for no reason at all and change the camera angle to make it look “different”.
