Bill Clinton vs. Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday
Last night, Clinton was set up interviewed by Chris Wallace on Fox News. In typical Fox News fashion, Wallace went after Clinton, trying to say he didn’t do enough to capture Bin Laden. Clinton was invited on the show to discuss his work on climate change and problems in developing countries.
After a few jabs from Wallace, Clinton appeared flustered and said,
You set this meeting up because you were going to get a lot of criticism from your viewers because Rupert Murdoch’s supporting my work on climate change.
And you came here under false pretenses and said that you’d spend half the time talking about — you said you’d spend half the time talking about what we did out there to raise $7-billion-plus in three days from 215 different commitments. And you don’t care.
The interview is one of the best I’ve seen and Clinton appeared ready for the ‘fair and balanced’ style of Fox. I think he made Wallace look like an idiot. My favourite part of the interview came when Clinton says to Wallace, “you’ve got that little smirk on your face and you think you’re so clever.” Great stuff!

One thing that bothers me is Clinton’s outright admission that the US government has undertaken to assasinate people. He “tried to have Bin Laden killed.” I mean, everyone knew anyway, but the bald statement just rubs me the wrong way. The fricken’ US always comes off so holier-than-thou, but their human rights record-especially recently-has to be among the worst in the world. Hey, I guess it’s OK as long as the atrocities aren’t against your own citizens, huh?

Agreed. It was a little weird to hear Clinton say, “I authorized the CIA to get groups together to try to kill him”.
A little later he says “I worked hard to try to kill him. I authorized a finding for the CIA to kill him. We contracted with people to kill him. I got closer to killing him than anybody has gotten since. And if I were still president, we’d have more than 20,000 troops there trying to kill him.”
Kill! Kill! Kill! With language like that, Clinton makes the president of Iran or Hugo Chavez look like a harmless little weasel!

Billy never ceases to do amazing things. His latest feat - he makes Dubya look like a moderate.

I’ll take Bill Clinton over GWB anyday - yes, it may be a “lesser of two evils” but his life post-presidency shows he is a genuinely intelligent man whose ethic is consistent, if not questionable at times. GWB never ceases to come off as uneducated, hypocritical, sneaky, and a bully. Clinton has greatness in him, Bush is just a village idiot. Admitedly they’re both swallowing the American “kill whom you want to” thing but at least Clinton is relatively forthright and consistent about it. George does it in the name of Jesus (who, it seems, is a white middle class republican) and that’s what’s truely frightening.
I loved that interview, thanks for sharing it. Almost as good as the ending of the football game you linked to. We should have play-by-play commentators on political interviews!
