Late but in earnest

On January 2, 2001 my mother passed away and I started working on a video that would celebrate her life. I scanned in a bunch of photos, animated them in Adobe After Effects and exported the final project using the first version of iMovie.

I think this is the first video I ever worked on and it was shown at my mother’s funeral. It’s not my best work by a long shot but it’s a true labour of love. It’s hard to believe that 6 years have passed by already.

I missed seeing that video at the funeral. There wasn’t enough room in the church proper for all the guests, and we had to stand in the meeting hall and listen through the door.

I remember you mother with great fondness, Jay.

I remember watching this and now I can’t hear that version of Over the Rainbow without getting all teary. Great work.

Who can forget someone so dear? I’m with James on this. I still have fond memories of Mrs. K every time I hear this song. Thanks for posting Jay.

That is really beautiful. It’s a wonderful tribute. I love the photos of you too. You’ve got a great look on your face in one of the B&W of you as a baby.
