Bring home some milk
It used to be that the man of the house was expected to bring home the bacon. I never get asked that. Instead, I get asked to “bring home some milk” whenever I go out. We go through bags of the stuff.
Last night at 2 AM, I stopped by the local 24-hour Dominion store. On my way to the milk section (at the back of the store) I picked up some Sun-Maid raisin bran bread, cherry danishes, some salt and vinegar powder (for popcorn) and some milk.
I wiped out in the milk aisle on the freshly mopped floor and limped to the cash. The young couple ahead of me decided to do their grocery shopping for an entire month. Normally this wouldn’t be a bad thing but it was 2 AM and the only register open was the Express Check-out for 1-8 items.
Ten minutes later I limped out of the store and noticed a police car in the parking lot. Normally I don’t get nervous when I see a police car but I was driving my Corolla with plates that expired last November. My fuel economy car failed an emission test and couldn’t get my plates renewed (I plan to get another emission test this week).
Fortunately the police officers were busy with their computer allowing me drive away unnoticed. I hate bringing home the milk.

How Top Bloggers Earn Money
There is a very interesting story in BusinessWeek on How Top Bloggers Earn Money. The little bit of money I make from this site has more than doubled in the past year. I’m just happy that it pays for itself.

Parkour on Livebait.tv
Last Friday I finished editing a piece for Livebait.tv on Parkour. If you enjoyed the chase scene at the beginning of the last Bond film then you’ll want to check out this video and find out who David Belle is and what Parkour is all about.
It was nice to get an experienced camera professional to shoot an episode for us. Thanks to Onno Weeda for shooting the group from PKTO.ca.

I received a request to be added to a friend’s network on LinkedIn. I hesitated for a second when I saw what my options were and clicked Accept.

The Renovation Update
Our renovation is heading into the home stretch. There are (hopefully) only five weeks to go. At this point I just want to be in my new home office.
There are 14 new photos of the reno on my Flickr page.

Rize (2005)
David LaChapelle is mostly known for his photography and music videos. If you haven’t seen his documentary film Rize (2005), then you’re probably not familiar with clowning and krumping — a dancing subculture in Los Angeles. The film looks at the dance movement known as clowning which started in south central LA by Tommy The Clown. Tommy took a job dressing up as a clown to entertain kids at birthday parties in the hood. He incorporated dance into his show and krumping was born.
In the film Tommy drives around in his green 5.0. Now, how can you not like a guy like that drives a green Mustang, dresses up like a clown and creates an entire dance movement?!
The dancing in this film is incredible. The music is also great and you’ll want to jump off the sofa and bust a move but don’t. You’ll just look like an idiot.
Do rent this film. It’s extremely entertaining and you’ll thank me for the recommendation later.

Vacation in Port Carling
I’m back from a short vacation in the Muskoka’s. I long for the days when I had the entire summer off and had to write an essay about “what I did on my summer vacation”.
In the last 7 days I took some photos around Rosseau, Bent River and Port Carling. I read On Chesil Beach by Ian McKewan. I slept. A lot.
Best of all, I dropped off the grid for a week—no cellphone, no email, no computer, no stress.
