Why does Apple Mac OS X cost more in Canada?
Mac OS X Version 10.5 Leopard can be pre-ordered for the discounted price of $109.00 on Amazon.com. Amazon.ca doesn’t allow you to pre-order OS X Version 10.5 Leopard, but you can purchase Mac Os X V10.4.6 Tiger for $149.99!
Now that the Canadian dollar is worth the same as the American dollar, I wonder if we’re going to have to pay $20-$50 more for OS X.
If you’re new to Mac OS X Leopard, take a look at the guided tour for an overview.

Apple.ca has it for $129.99 the same price as the US site.

Thanks Tim. At least Apple is offering the new OS for the same price in both countries. I picked up an Airport Extreme for $30 less at a Best Buy last month in Michigan. After taxes I was ahead by about $35-40.
Canadian retailers are going to get hit hard in the next couple of months if they don’t change their pricing as more and more people go to the US to purchase their products.

I love Amazon but they drive me crazy when they won’t allow me to order software from the US site. If it was even available in Canada, it wouldn’t be such a problem (ie. Worldwide Soccer Manager 2008) but in this case, it’s inexcusable that we don’t get to take advantage of the pre-order savings like our American friends.

Agree. Apple rarely puts anything on sale and it would have been nice to take advantage of this sale.
I hate visiting sites like Daring Fireball and seeing the pre-order OS X for $109 in the top top right corner. I’m going to hold off on upgrading for a little while anyway. I want to make sure that software developers have a chance to upgrade their apps to be compatible with Leopard.
